Custom Designed and Carved Area Rugs
Through the many years, Gino has had the opportunity to create thousands of custom designed and carved Area Rugs.
The Custom Designed Area Rug pictured to the left is one of two in a condominium facing Naples, FL. beach. The field (the largest part of a custom designed area rug is the field) is Sisal. The border is a tapestry weight fabric. The Asian influence witnessed by the sette is charming, and the custom designed area rug fits in very well.
Always the custom area rugs begin with Gino meeting the Client or Designer. He then discusses what are the needs and desires of the Client. He visits the home, office space, or other building needing the custom area rug(s), and takes measurements. He also takes photos. These photos help Gino to design the custom area rugs. He takes into account the design elements of the furniture, such as the carved wood work. He may incorporate this into the custom area rug pattern.
Gino loves to allow the furniture to sit upon the rug. He considers this the true and fair useage of the carpet. It must be ordered by the 12 foot length, (a linear yard from the Mill is 1 foot X 12 feet) and so likes to give the Client the most bang for their money. It also helps to stabilize the furniture. Imagine one or two legs of a table or chair being sat upon the rug, and yet the other two legs are not. This creates instability. You can note that almost all of his custom designed area rugs do span under all of the furnite legs, and compliment and envelope the setting, creating a peaceful and fulfilling space.
Exceptions to this are custom designed Hall Area Rugs.
Custom Designed Hall Way Rugs and Runners are usually an addition to a larger order. The Client usually orders a Living Room or Great Room Custom Designed Area Rug, and sometimes an area rug for each of these rooms. Dining Room Custom Area Rugs are also commonly ordered. In this instance, there is sometimes left-over carpet from the order, and Gino is able to create a Custom Designed and carved Area Rug for a Hallway, next to a Bed in a Bedroom, or even a Master Bath or large Dressing Room/Closet.
This cheerful Custom Designed Area Rug now resides in a Punta Gorda, FL. residence. The Clients are in love with the cool colors,
blue and lavendars. The Custom Area Rug matches quite well with the purple leather furniture, and the Owners are quite pleased with the results.
Fabrica and Masland are two Carpet Companies, both residing in the USA, that Gino enjoys working with. They are both high-quality carpet Manufacturers, and the high tuft count per square inch lends itself well to the carving of the custom designed and assembled area rugs.
This Custom Designed Area Rug incorporates a swirl of Palm Fronds, which matches the fabric present on the Clients Dining Room furniture. The Rugs' Happy Owners reside in Naples, FL.
In the photo, Gino has just finished building the Custom Designed Area Rug and is sitting down, taking a much needed break. When he gets up, he will back and bind the rug. We use only custom, hand made binding, not the cheap, polyester binding used by almost all other Area Rug companies.
This is a huge Custom Designed and will be carved Area Rug Runner. In these two photos, it shows Gino doing the last bit of work on the assembly of the Runner Rug. It is not yet carved.
The bright and cheerful white flowers are a Christmas cactus, something admired by the Client and he wished it to be incorporated into his rug.
As you can see, this is a very big Custom Designed Rug. Notice that much of it is still rolled up.
Each of the long and elegant palm fronds have one crisp, white Christmas cactus flower attached to it. Gino carved this rug later on that day and a few following; and delivered it shortly thereafter to the Dr. in South Fort Myers, FL.

The delicate scroll work is something Gino enjoys creating in many of his Custom Area Rugs.
